Then I tried to melt it in a round charcoal grill that I have but no longer use. I used wood as fuel. My first attempt to melt it failed. The bigger the item the more it can dissipate the heat applied to it and the harder it is do get it to start melting. My second attempt I made a wire cage to keep the crucible upright and I piled a generous amount of small logs in the grill.
