For those of you that are currently doing this: How many hours are you putting in each week? What stakes are you playing? Do you have a set goal per year? Is it worth it? There are almost an infinite number of answers, ranging from playing once a couple of times a year to playing nearly full time. It probably isn’t the sole money, but it is too big to be considered a sideline. I’m sure many people do have a goal. Experienced players know there is a lot of variance though. It isn’t like a job where you can budget you’re going to win X per week. If you are solely building your skills to earn more money, no, it is not worth it. Almost any other endevour will show a better ROI than learning poker. People do it for lots of reasons, but the gambling bug plays a role in it. If you hear someone say, «I love poker,» you know they really mean, «I love gambling. That said, I am concerned that you mention as alternatives «investing» in stocks or cryptocurrencies. By «investing» I assume you mean trading.
