I am new to Rift — highest level character is level 15 — what is the best way to make some money? For now I am really looking for the 2. Should I take a few gathering professions and sell items in the AH? Which ones seem to work best? In my case, I just went for all three gathering professions and sell everything on the auction house with all the equipment and crafting drops I get that I don’t need while playing. In all, I have probably made at least P per character in the last 2 months I have been playing My main problem is I always spend it all on training skills, getting new equipment, health pots, soul mending and opening additional roles and what not.

So it is hard to save up at this point for the faster mounts and other optional items that one might like to. It should get better once you start doing T1 and T2 dungeons however, each give P per run, so that will add up quickly depending on how often you do. Also, if you do the random dungeon option in the LFG tool, you won’t always get stuff you can use as your reward, so put those up on auction as well since they have all been blue quality items in my experience and you can get a decent price for them.

Last edited by sabbey; at PM. Every zone, including the ‘newbie’ zone, has a puzzle and at least one cairn a treasure spot. The puzzles and cairns will give you random items, guaranteed to at least be a green item. I went through Freemarch yesterday, and got all of the cairns and the puzzle. As my net total, I got, I believe, 9 items, several of which were the same items. I got 4 blue items, which were all the same, and 3 green versions of the blue item so yes, 7 items were actually just 2 itemsbut I could sell the ones I didn’t use.

Also, every zone has artifacts that are unique to those zones. With the exception of the beginner zones, you’ll likely find all of your extra artifacts will sell for at least some money.

One way to try selling them is to not set a buy outright price, just set a minimum purchase price. Really, as long as you don’t buy loads of useless crap, you shouldn’t be short of money at low levels. Skill training and your first couple of role slots are cheap, quests and dungeons throw more level-appropriate gear at you than you’ll know what to do with I’m quite new too, but the earlier post about puzzles and cairns is correct—I did the Lake Solace cairns and got an amzaing amount of gold—enough to put me well ahead on the everyday and training expenses.

Basically, though I think it’s a good thing. I played tibia low lvl ek money making game where if you had enough RL money to spend on micro transactions it almost made everything too easy.

My new guardian alt, first artifact was a lovely blue, sold for 25plat. But really, just quest, you should get that mount in no time. Just questing you will have enough for your next mount at 40 and again enough for the fast mount at 50, at least all my alts so far.

If you’re not going to use it, then look at the other 3 callings choices. Often the warrior gear item or weapon is worth more than the other three, but sometimes it’ll be another item.

Sell that extra gear! Don’t make runecrafter your first profession. By the way, there’s no problem starting with a gathering skill or two and unlearning them later.

No crafting is profitable at the low-levels anyway, it’s something you do for fun. Pick up everything that isn’t nailed. Greed on every item you could sell, if someone needs the item they’ll Need the item. Be frugal. Do you need to blow that 1 gold to use the porticulum or can you spend 5 minutes riding between two low-level ports? Obvs if an event is going on and it’s not safe, then spend the money. Try not to die because you’re tired and playing sloppy.

You just have to look for. Many people just rush about, open ya eyes and make an effort to find artifacts around trees, huts, hills, ect. I’ve found it pretty difficult to make money as a new player I have a Rogue in the high twenties and I seem to be struggling to stay above a decent amount while leveling. I’ve learned to not train all of my skills and only go for the ones that I’m actively using right now in order to save abit on.

I’ve been trying to sell duplicate artifacts but for me they rarely sell. I thought one of my mistakes was choosing Runecrafter, Outfitter, and Butchering so I decided to level up and alt with just the gathering professions.

After getting the alt to about level 20 I’ve still yet to sell most of the mats I’ve gathered while leveling. I keep relisting them at good prices but I’m not getting any buyers, maybe it’s my server Byriel or maybe it will get better once I move up abit, but at low level for new players it is tough. At this point I don’t think I’ll be able to get my level 40 mount for awhile. Last edited by Grifften; at AM. One way to get your level 40 mount, for free essentially, is to do pvp.

I’ve gone into the pvp scene on a new alt with simply doing the pvp daily quests provided, as well as the ‘win 5 warfronts of this type’ quests.

With that done, and a few here and there when I’m bored or want some variety, I had more than enough favor by level 35 to get my lvl 40 mount.

I just held onto it until I leveled, and spent no money on getting it. Money on your first low level toon is going to be hard, no matter what you try. You can gain money hand over fist easily enough once you reach level 50, and then feed your alts what they need as they need it. I had alot of trouble even with my first level 50, because I was feeding several crafters and not always having the mats readily available through self-harvesting. Hopefully tho, it will come easier for you as time goes by.
